Tools for Humanity, co-founded by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, has introduced its World ID system as a solution to distinguish real humans from AI chatbots. The process involves users undergoing an in-person iris scan using Worldcoin’s orb, a device the size of a bowling ball. Once the scan verifies the individual as human, a World ID is created. This is part of Tools for Humanity’s larger Worldcoin project, which has attracted two million users during its beta phase. The scanning operations will expand to 35 cities across 20 countries.
