I am an adamant supporter of UBI and Yang so I’ve got a bone to pick. Here goes.
Firstly your first statement that welfare, food stamps and other assistance would be done away with under Yang’s UBI is not correct in a literal sense. His proposal was an "opt-in" policy. You could either opt in to UBI or continue receiving whatever benefits you already get. So if your benefits are more than $1k/month then you stay on your benefits. If it is less, then presumably you’d opt in to UBI because you’d be better off.
