I think Finland is tossing the idea around, too.
With the resources available to a citizen in the US if they have needs and are destitute, the state already allots resources to individuals and families, just with numerous stipulations that have encouraged selfish people to "work the system." Basic income could put a stop to that. Also, the reserve and trade commissions theoretically could keep a close eye on markets for services, goods, as well as fluctuation in value of currency.
