University of York study finds Basic Income scheme could save NHS tens of billions of pounds

A basic income scheme has the potential to save the NHS tens of billions of pounds by reducing poverty and improving the nation’s mental and physical health, according to new research involving academics at the University of York.

A basic income is a regular and unconditional cash payment to all individuals designed to reduce poverty, enhance economic security and improve overall well-being.
