Something missing from the debate around introducing Universal Basic Income (UBI) is the fact that, in the UK, we actually already have it. It is just buried in language and bureaucracy.
In the UK every single working person does not pay the 20% rate on the first £11000 they earn. That is £2200 they are not paying in tax. Presumably, people on benefits get at least £2200 via some convoluted paperwork.
