Today Mayor Jones announced the signing of the Working Families Bill ( BB116 )—a measure that supports St. Louis residents affected by the pandemic and the related economic crisis. Programs in the bill expand healthcare access for underserved residents and increase public safety by funding alternative programs for city youth.
Also contained in the bill is a Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) pilot program to support public school children and their families. The trial program provides monthly payments of $500.00 to approximately 440 St. Louis households for 18 months. Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the program:
