Wynne gambling on re-election with lottery for laggards

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Christopher Katsarov) It would appear that Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, now the province’s nanny-in-chief, did not look at her balance sheet before gambling on a pilot project to provide a guaranteed minimum income on the backs of her already broken-back taxpayers.

While the idea of a tarted-up welfare system — and a guaranteed, no-strings-attached annual income is nothing more than another name for welfare — may have marginal support, it requires a government with its coffers flush with cash, not $320 billion in debt.
