Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology could revolutionize the US workforce in the coming decade, as more and more companies turn to AI to automate tasks that currently consume about one-third of Americans’ workweeks.
According to a report by the McKinsey Global Institute titled “Generative AI and the Future of Work in America,” AI has the potential to greatly accelerate economic automation. The study estimated that without the use of generative AI, automation could take over about 21.5% of work hours in the US economy by 2030. However, with generative AI, that percentage jumps to 29.5%.
