AI rules to retrain redundant workers ‘unsustainable’

Employers and experts say Labor is overstating artificial intelligence’s threat to jobs and warn regulatory attempts to place all the burden on employers to retrain workers would prove unsustainable.

Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke has flagged the federal government is considering potential responses to AI that bring forward employers’ consultation over workplace changes and charge them with retraining workers in the AI that threatens to make them redundant.
