As of 2020, several cities in Los Angeles County began to promote a program called Respira/Breathe focused on a Guaranteed Basic Income policy, IBG (in English, Guaranteed Basic Income, GBI) using several of its own pilot programs; Compton Pledge (2020), L.A. Big: Leap (2021), and Long Beach (2022). As the Guaranteed Basic Income program becomes more popular, the Los Angeles County Managers’ office is launching its own program with the help of the organizations Strength-Based Community Change (CCBF).
