Basic Income Grant Would Cost Billions of Rands

Last month, the Minister of Social Developmentpublished a green paper on Social Security and Retirement Reforms for public comment. One proposal in the green paper would have raised eyebrows around the country. The paper was subsequently withdrawn without an explanation but has started a debate around a basic income grant.
