Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Harris County Public Health Executive Director Barbie Robinson attended a news conference on June 5, 2023 to announce the county could launch a guaranteed income pilot program. Applicants selected to participate in Harris County’s guaranteed income pilot program will be notified beginning today through March 22, according to the Harris County Department of Public Health.
Around 1,900 participants were chosen to receive $500 monthly payments for 18 months. The first payment will be distributed as early as April 24.
