Universal basic needs vs. universal basic income.

Personally I feel that a universal basic needs program is much better to deal with the consequences of automation than a universal basic income. I don’t need to repeat the standard talk about how the specter of automation could render large segments of society unemployable. We need a solution to prevent potentially crippling mass poverty. What I mean by universal basic needs is essentially this: Free food and water

Free transportation – for example Tallinn and soon all of Estonia 1 . Driverless electric public transportation could make this affordable and viable

Free electricity – renewable energy […]
