Plenty of ink has been spilled in defense and in condemnation of Israel’s recently passed “Nation-State Law.” Adding his voice to the chorus of critiques is Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, who took to the New York Times on Monday to say, “ Israel, This is Not Who We Are. ” Lauder argues that the most likely effects of the Nation-State Law will be negative ones for the Jewish state: In Israel, it will heighten the sense of polarization and discord.
