Basic income trial aids immigrant families in NM

(Courtesy Photo) Alfonso, a Luna County food distributor, and his wife and child are among the families participating in a privately funded Guaranteed Basic Income program organized by a group of New Mexico nonprofits to aid those who didn’t qualify for pandemic relief programs because of their immigration status. This year, a nonprofit coalition is providing 330 New Mexican immigrant and mixed-status families with $500 a month in financial assistance through what they’re calling the Guaranteed Basic Income program.
