Los Angeles has taken a big step forward and launched Breathe: LA County’s Guaranteed Income Program that is part of LA County’s Poverty Alleviation Initiative. 1,000 participants were selected and they would be given a $1,000 stipend every month for the next three years. By partnering with Northwestern University , the city of Evanston in Illinois has launched a universal basic income program called the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program , which will provide 150 households with 500 dollars per month for one year.
