India is changing a two-decade old policy to save its jobs from robots

A major challenge for the Narendra Modi-led government has been job creation. Emerging technologies such as automation and artificial intelligence are expected to take away jobs. Early next year, India will have its new industrial policy which will revamp the Industrial Policy of 1991 and the previous UPA government’s 2011 New Manufacturing Policy. Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu says the draft of the policy is ready.
