The survey is one of the largest into the AI topic. A new survey by staffing firm Adecco Group suggests a wave of automation is coming, with 41% of executives at large companies worldwide expecting to reduce their workforce due to artificial intelligence (AI) within the next five years.

This news comes amidst the growing adoption of generative AI, a technology capable of creating realistic text, images, and videos. While some see it as a tool to eliminate repetitive tasks, others fear it will render entire jobs obsolete.

Speaking at an AI summit in November 2023, the eccentric billionaire claimed that advanced AI will eventually be able to “do everything” when it comes to jobs and employment .

“There will come a point where no job is needed,” he told U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. “You can have a job if you want personal satisfaction, but the AI will be able to do it all.”
