Is It The Right Time To Automate Packaging?

When everything is getting automated, why won’t you work on automating your packaging line?

Every company goes through a growth phase (yes, fortunately), but that comes with some responsibilities, so who gets the time to manually work on the packaging? Honestly, the packaging is a big aspect of every business, and it needs to provide a positive ROI and efficient production. However, if the packaging isn’t scaled for growth, it results in higher costs, and you, as a business, won’t want that.

Still, automating the packaging line is a big decision, and it can be hard to navigate to the final […]

Women: the widening gap

Women: the widening gap

There exist sexual gaps in time spent on unpaid care work, limited access to social protection and the upsurge in violence and harassment. These have made it more difficult for women to retain employment than men. Gabriela Ramírez Mendoza

06/02/2022 The COVID-19 crisis has not only made the world’s existing inequalities even more evident; it has even deepened them. Women face a heavy burden of unpaid and care work, loss of income and jobs, and make up a more significant portion of the poor. This article will discuss the growing gender gap in employment and the effects of […]

The Automation Paradox

The Automation Paradox

We’re not quite there yet but fast approaching a time when tough choices will force us to decide how we want to handle mass automation. Mass automation is when so many tasks in society are performed by robots that it actually starts to cut into employment potential for us flesh and blood mortals. We may want a job but can’t compete with a robot that works for free with no benefits in ungodly conditions 24 hours a day with no complaints.

We are already seeing the beginnings of this existential competition play out in places like Amazon warehouses where workers […]

Charting Change

The effects of artificial intelligence (AI) on employment has garnered a lot of interest as of late, as we hear about technological advancements on a daily basis. COVID-19 in particular has spurred the adoption of new ways of conducting business, most of which requires ways to avoid direct contact in order to reduce transmission.

Some industries are under tremendous pressure to adapt to new realities, or face continued losses, as is the case for air transportation. Travel at the height of the pandemic was paralyzed, and passenger levels had dropped anywhere from 95-98%. The recovery of air […]

How is AI slowly eating up white-collar jobs?

How is AI slowly eating up white-collar jobs?

Mini

AI is automating the economy in a much more subtle way than expected. While businesses which don’t use AI tools are at a disadvantage, large-scale use of AI tools could result in the loss of many jobs. The debate on the issue continues out there. In the last decade, almost every argument putting forward the idea of artificial intelligence (AI) taking up white-collar jobs from humans was downplayed by critics with a rather simplistic counter — machines lack the creativity and intuition of a human worker.

In the last few years, however, this counter has fallen flat, with AI automating […]

Europe – 12 million jobs predicted to be lost to automation by 2040

Approximately 12 million jobs will be lost to automation across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK by 2040, according to a report from research and advisory firm Forrester.

The report showed that while the pandemic continues to pressure European businesses to invest more heavily and rapidly in automation, this is not the only factor contributing to the forecasted job loss.

Workers with little bargaining power are most at risk of displacement, especially in countries where many are subject to casual employment contracts, including zero-hour contracts in the UK, which require no guaranteed working hours, or part-time jobs with low wages, […]

New data reveals 12m European jobs could be lost to automation by 2040

Research firm Forrester has forecasted that 12 million jobs will be lost to automation across Europe by 2040, with 34 per cent of European jobs at risk.

According to Forrester’s Future of Jobs Forecast, workers with little bargaining power are most at risk of displacement, especially in countries where many are subject to casual employment contracts, including zero-hour contracts in the UK, which require no guaranteed working hours, or part-time jobs with low wages, such as “mini-jobs” in Germany.

Job losses to automation will subsequently impact European workers in wholesale, retail, transport, accommodation, food services, and leisure and hospitality on a […]

Three Key RPA Trends to Watch Out For in 2022-01 In 2022, robotic process automation (RPA) will be about the progression and maturation of existing trends, rather than what’s new and shiny.

RPA is a goal-oriented technology that crosses paths with those major IT pillars in a variety of ways. It’s been overhyped, and now it’s moving into a more mature stage, with IT leaders and their teams focusing on use cases that truly function and produce results.

One of the enticements of automation is that it can be done in small steps. In many cases, this is automation as […]

The future arrives as AI boom takes over jobs after the pandemic

The future arrives as AI boom takes over jobs after the pandemic

(Mariah Tauger / Los Angeles Times) Increasing automation has been a long time trend as technological advancements continue to take place. However, as the world slowly rebounds from the coronavirus, the application of automation has been further pushed to prioritize contactless interactions. The usage of automation, such as robots instead of rehiring previous employees, affected almost every market, including transportation, restaurants, manufacturing and government services.

In the year 2020, millions of jobs were lost by the pandemic, more specifically up to 114 million jobs globally, according to the International Labour Organization . However, this is an underestimation of the full […]
